Andrew J. Stern

Andrew J. Stern is one of the Philadelphia area's most accomplished trial lawyers, an advocate widely known for his ardent representation of clients and the results it produces in the courtroom, including record-setting verdicts. A former partner with The Beasley Firm, he joined Kline & Specter in 2005 as a partner. Stern has obtained jury verdicts in his career which amount to approximately $175 million. Stern's accomplishments were recognized by Super Lawyers 2005 - 2012 with its selection of Stern as one of the top lawyers in Pennsylvania. He was also selected for Best Lawyers in America in 2013 and Philadelphia's Best Lawyers, and is included among the Presidential Who's Who Among Business and Professional Achievers. The Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly mentioned Stern's record-setting legal victories naming him to the list of Top 10 attorneys switching to new law firms in 2005. Stern has broad experience with cases including medical malpractice, product liability, successfully handling suits involving aircraft accidents, defective helmets and head gear, defective machine tools and automotive design defect, and pharmaceutical litigation. He has also successfully argued cases in the appellate courts.

Stern earned his bachelor's degree in 1983 from Pennsylvania State University, where he graduated cum laude. In 1986, he received his law degree from The Beasley School of Law of Temple University, where he won the Barrister's Trial Award and also was one of the "Founding Fathers" of the Temple Trial Team. During law school, Stern clerked for the late Judge James Hunter 3d of the Third Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. Stern has had teaching responsibilities with Temple's LLM program and recently lectured on the use of experts in litigation at a LLM class. He's also been involved in teaching trial advocacy techniques to students at Drexel University Law School and plans to assist Drexel's trial team in an upcoming competition. He is a faculty member with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy's (NITA) National Mid-Atlantic Program. Stern has also worked as an adjunct professor in legal writing and trial advocacy at The Beasley School of Law. He has taught Continuing Legal Education courses for attorneys on Products Liability, Demonstrative Evidence, Trial Strategy, Advanced Deposition Strategies and Advanced Trial Skills, among others. He was moderator for the acclaimed 2003 Masters on Trial seminar and he is a member of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.

Gwen Roseman Stern

Gwen Stern's expertise includes medical malpractice and product-liability law as well as promoting trial advocacy skills and community awareness of legal procedures. She has been a faculty member providing intensive trial advocacy training on both a local and national level for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.

Professor Stern directs the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project, which she brought to Philadelphia as a joint undertaking between Drexel and the University of Pennsylvania law schools to encourage city high-school students to learn about their rights and responsibilities under the Constitution. This project culminates in a local and national constitutional law appellate advocacy competition for the high school students.

Previously, Professor Stern was an adjunct professor at Temple University's Beasley School of Law teaching both introduction and advanced trial advocacy. She also directed the trial training program for Temple LEAP (Law, Education, and Participation)'s Philadelphia High School Mock Trial Competition.

She earned her J.D. from Temple, where she was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society and named the best oral advocate in the I. Herman Stern Moot Court Competition. After graduation, Professor Stern practiced with the Philadelphia law firms Kline and Specter PC and White and Williams LLC, where she tried numerous medical malpractice cases. She previously practiced with Daniels, Saltz, Mongeluzzi and Barrett and with Harvey, Pennington, Herting and Renneisen, where she worked on medical malpractice, pharmaceutical and products liability cases and conducted depositions and arbitrations in defense of personal injury litigation.

As a community leader, Professor Stern received the prestigious Philadelphia Bar Association's F. Sean Peretta Service Award for providing innovative programs to the community. She also is a board member of the Nation Youth Justice Alliance.

Samuel A. Haaz

Samuel A. Haaz is a recent graduate of Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pennylvania. He is currently employed at the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office.
