Brian A. Facey, B.A. (Hons.), LL.B., LL.M., is the Chair of the Competition, Antitrust & Foreign Investment practice at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, widely regarded as the leading competition law practice in Canada. In a 2014 global survey of General Counsels, Brian was named one of the top 15 Antitrust Lawyers in the world – the only Canadian lawyer to receive this distinction. For more than 20 years, he has advised clients in hundreds of regulatory matters, including cross-border and domestic merger transactions, criminal cartel cases, class actions, and distribution and advertising matters under the Competition Act. Brian has appeared on behalf of clients before the Competition Bureau, the Competition Tribunal, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal and various levels of Ontario courts. He also specializes in advising foreign-controlled companies under the provisions of the Investment Canada Act. Brian is also the co-author of LexisNexis publications Competition and Antitrust Laws in Canada: Mergers, Joint Ventures and Competitor Collaborations (with Cassandra Brown) and Investment Canada Act: Commentary and Annotation, 2014 Edition (with Joshua Krane).

Dany H. Assaf, B.Comm. (with distinction), LL.B., is the Co-Chair of the Competition & Foreign Investment practice at Torys LLP in Toronto, Canada. Dany has been recognized as a leading expert in competition law including having been recognized as one of the world's "Top 40 Competition Lawyers Under 40" by Global Competition Review. He has extensive domestic and international advisory experience and has been involved in many of Canada's highest profile transactions and investigations in all areas of competition law, including mergers, criminal cartel cases, class actions and abuse of dominance matters. Dany has appeared on behalf of clients at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada, Federal Court of Appeal, Federal Court, Ontario Superior Court, Competition Tribunal and before the Competition Bureau. He has provided testimony on proposed amendments to the Competition Act before the Canadian Senate and on the Investment Canada Act to a Canadian Parliamentary Committee. Dany has served as a private sector advisor to the International Competition Network and past Chairman of the Economics Committee of the Canadian Bar Association's National Competition Law Section and was also a former Adjunct Professor of competition law.
